Researcher

Courtney is currently a Researcher in the Institute of Archaeology and Governing Body Fellow at Wolfson College. Alongside her work on Ebb & Flow, she manages the ‘Celtic Coin Index Digital’ project, the 'BALMS: Bronze Age Landscapes and Metalwork in Sweden' project, and is the Assistant Editor of Proceedings of the Prehistoric Society. Her interests are wide-ranging, but focus primarily on Bronze Age and Iron Age material culture and maritime archaeology.

Prior to this project, Courtney worked as researcher on the 'European Celtic Art in Context' project at Oxford and on various rock art projects in Scandinavia and Australia. She was a maritime archaeologist at MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) working on commercial sites on the Thames, the community archaeology Thames Discovery Programme, and co-founder of CITiZAN: Coastal and InterTidal Zone Archaeological Network (funded by the HLF, National Trust, and Crown Estate). 

Courtney completed her PhD in Archaeology at the University of Reading; the monograph of this research was published in 2015. She has an MA Distinction in Maritime Archaeology from the Institute of Archaeology, University College London and a BFA (University of California, Santa Cruz) and MFA (Tufts University, SMFA) in fine art, art history and museum studies.
